Re: Confused by many products, which sounds ost like a Minio

Sorry. No other Moog synth comes close to the synergy of a good Mini, the best being very early ones with certain upgrades. (in my opinion.) The Source is the next best thing, but very different in many ways. (no knobs all over the place, for one.) Even a Moog modular doesn't sound like a Mini. Diff...

Re: Dual Trigger Delay

a. What's a 2N3189? Typo for 2N3891? b. Suspect your own mistakes first, not the components. We humans tend to assume a lot. c. NTE and ECG transistors are often poor substitutes and very high priced. d. Here's some pics and diagrams that might be of some help: http://www.synthfool.com/911a One addi...

Re: Dual Trigger Delay

Pinouts can vary between the TO-92 packages and the round ones.
Try moving your transistor around to other positions.
Also, many other FETs will work, perhaps even Roland's favorite, the 2SK30.
Good luck.

Re: Low VCO voltage

Try removing boards and checking the voltages in between removals.
If one of the boards is shorted, the power supply should jump back to approx normal levels and you'll know it's one of the boards.

Re: 960 & 962 hook up...?

The 262 is a custom module and I have zero experience with it. From what I can tell by it's panel, it allows much more complex sequences. It appears to really be a divider, not a delay. But I really don't know. Here's all I can suggest: 1. Try anything. It probably won't hurt, though running outputs...

Re: 960 & 962 hook up...?

Just give them power and patch them from the front. A common setup is the 24 note length sequence. Here, you take the output of each row and feed it into an input on the 962. The output of the 962 is your sequencer output (CV). To make the 962 switch sequencer banks, take the last trig (or gate) out...

Re: 960 & 962 hook up...?

I already know that by the time anyone replies to this, Tom will have already mastered 24 note sequences and composed a new piece replete with video.
Why bother? :)

Re: Some possibly nice synth finishes?

Cool ! But they should use a robotic arm to lower things in the water... Looks similar to electroplating but with patterns and no wires. Although the parts to be printed on, visibly have some type of pre-coating (possibly statically charged). Very Interesting. Thanks for posting. Another cool thing...

Please remember that it's very busy in China right now.
They've got a lot to do making the US all the goodies they give for Christmas.
Postal and delivery companies also.

Re: Minimoog Model D keyboard issues

I recommend replacing all electrolytic caps, but if you don't do this, at least check that the fuses installed are the correct values.
If something dies in the Mini, you'll appreciate a fuse blowing and not something like a power transistor.

Re: Minimoog Model D keyboard issues

My 2 cents... 1. Tarn-X chemical detarnishing can really help. Available in the states at most drug stores. (Always remember to rinse the stuff off completely.) 2. It is possible to polish buss bars with fine polish such as 3M 39527 chrome polish. One can carefully remove a buss bar (always pull, ne...

Re: minimoog model D serial 10175 below VCO2 dead

Just a quick note from experience: Suspect the ICs and components last and physical connections first. That is, make sure the edge connectors are making good contact and there's no broken wires or cracked solder connections. I would look very closely at the osc board and the soldering. See if any co...
