Best Beginner's Modular?

What do you guys think was the best beginner's modular synthesizer, in terms of reliability? I know that while the groundbreaking Minimoog had helped save Moog from complete financial ruin for a time, but, sooner or later, there comes a time when people want to have more available features in a lowe...

Re: Harmonica Sound on Minimoog?

I never knew DF was using a P5 on that track. It sounded very Minimoog like.but back in 1980 I guess a lot of people were using them. I bought a pro1 a year later. Wish I still had it. It was a great sounding synth. I love DF and steely Dan. That tune brings me back. Great tunes and DF played the R...

Re: Harmonica Sound on Minimoog?

You could probably get close by using a slow attack & decay with both envelopes, and ride the mod wheel to articulate the filter brightness, as the note plays? Is the D a reissue or original? Reissue has aftertouch, which might be useful to use too. To be specific, I was referring to the origin...

Harmonica Sound on Minimoog?

I suppose I could ask the same question about this in the Modular forum... Anyways, my question here is this: does anyone know how I can make a harmonica-like sound patch for the Minimoog D? I know the late, great Vangelis (1943-2022) did something similar with his Yamaha CS-80 polysynth for the &qu...

I wonder if it is also possible to simulate these bell-like synth leads (at the timepoint mentioned and at 1:27, 2:14 and 2:50) with a MiniMoog?

Stephen,

My view: to wear headphones, play the 932 Hz B-flat chord, and hit the "VaVoom" (volume generator) stomp box to increase the loudness.

Stephen,

I've yet to find any videos on YouTube about how to increase the loudness of any given note on a MiniMoog or equivalent synthesizer.

OK, I leave
Because, unlike the MiniMoog - it was polyphonic. If I were to own one of these only the MemoryMoog Plus as modified by LinTronics would satisfy me from a reliability standpoint.

MiniMoog Fade-In Effect?

Has anyone ever tried to do a fade-in effect on a MiniMoog? What this means is to play a desired note that you like at low volume, and then gradually increase its loudness. This procedure is similar to how the ending melody of Linda Ronstadt's 1974 hit "You're No Good" was done (which soun...

Re: Polyphonic MiniMoog Voyager?

If Moog had played its cards right with both the PolyMoog and the MemoryMoog, they might have had a little more success in the polyphonic field. The sad truth over both of those was due to Bob Moog's not being involved in their R&D. He sold his company to Norlin in 1974 and, for some reason, dec...

Polyphonic MiniMoog Voyager?

Do you think the present MiniMoog Voyager (including the XL) or the Phattys will ever be made polyphonic (two or more notes can be played)? In addition to that, the Sound on Sound article about the XL mentions some omissions on the Voyager edition that were on the original: A440 mode, plus filter to...

Would it be possible to play any of the synthesizer tracks I hear in this 1986 Book of Love song on an old MiniMoog synth?

I wonder if any Moog synthesizers are heard in the theme song to "the crossword game you've played all your life, but never quite like this"?
